Shaykh Mehmet 'Adil

Masters of the Way

The Spiritual Guide of this Path is Shaykh Mehmet 'Adil. Shaykh Mehmet comes from a family lineage of saints and also has spiritual authority through a chain of transmission (silsila) that leads to the Prophet Muhammad - peace be upon him. His ancestors trace through the lineages of renowned spiritual figures such as Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jilani and Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi.

Shaykh Mehmet is also the son and successor of one of the greatest Saints that existed, the Spiritual Pole of the Century - Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani. He was born in Damascus, Syria and started his youth with a scholarly foundation in renowned Islamic institutions in the blessed city. He then spent years accompanying his father across the globe, spreading the message and following of the Naqshbandi Sufi Way. Shaykh Mehmet was always at the service of the needs of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and the many followers that would visit his residence and dergah (sufi school) in Lefke, North Cyprus. In 2011, 3 years before his passing, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim made a public declaration at the dergah that  Shaykh Mehmet  is his appointed successor in the Naqshbandi Chain of Masters.

Since then, Shaykh Mehmet continued the work of spreading the message of the Naqshbandi tariqa, allowing it to flourish across continents to attract new, younger followers and continued to provide guidance to hundreds of existing followers on the Path. His gentle and humble nature has won the hearts of many and he is always approachable to people from all walks of life. Shaykh Mehmet currently resides in the district of Akbaba based in Istanbul, Turkiye.
